April brings with it the Week of the Young Child (WOYC), April 16- 20
th, an annual celebration sponsored by the
National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This celebration aims to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The WOYC is followed closely by Afterschool Professional Appreciation Week, April 23-27, a time to recognize those who work with youth during out of school hours. Catholic Charities is joining with the
National AfterSchool Association (NAA) to celebrate the professionals that are at the heart of afterschool programs.
Catholic Charities Child Care Service Area Director, Krista Glynn, is excited to share her passion for children, “We are dedicated to ensuring all children develop to their fullest potential in a nurturing, safe, and family friendly environment. Catholic Charities uses the latest research, and experienced staff to encourage student success and parent’s peace of mind. During April we will have special activities planned and will share our photos using the hash tags #WOYC2018 and #HeartofAfterSchool. We hope to draw attention to the importance of a child’s s early years and to the individuals committed to make a difference in the lives of children. We encourage everyone to join us in thanking the afterschool professionals in their lives.”
