In light of recent incidents of violence and racial tension in communities across the United States, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has invited all dioceses across the country to unite in a Day of Prayer for Peace in Our Communities on Friday, Sept. 9, the feast of St. Peter Claver. Archbishop Wilton Gregory, of Atlanta, will chair a new special task force on building peace in communities and healing racial tensions.
Locally, The Catholic Charities Solidarity Team and Holy Family Parish in New Brunswick will join in The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)'s call for a Day of Prayer. Faith leaders from around the area are invited to join Msgr. Joe Kerrigan and Rev. Tabiri Chukunta, in an ecumenical Prayer Service for Peace in Our Communities at 9am on Sept. 9, at the 56 Throop Avenue location of Holy Family Parish in New Brunswick.
