Krista, a native of Pennsylvania, completed her bachelor’s degrees in sociology and social work at East Stroudsburg University. She then entered the Rutgers University School of Social Work’s (RUSSW) advanced standing program for her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. Krista completed her MSW internship in the Youth Partial Care program at Catholic Charities. After finishing school, Krista served as a clinician for Catholic Charities’ Family Preservation Services Program in both Middlesex and Somerset Counties. She has been a LifeSet Specialist for the last year. Krista reflected on her professional journey stating, “My internship at Catholic Charities allowed me to learn so much and grow as a clinician. I’ve always had a passion for working with children and adolescents, and my internship at the Youth Partial Care Program signified that this is what I’m meant to be doing. My favorite part about being a LifeSet Specialist is helping at-risk young adults, who have been involved in the foster care system, achieve their goals and grow as people. Seeing my clients’ growth throughout the year has been rewarding to say the least. These young adults have gone through so much and yet, are extremely resilient. It is just such a pleasure to be that support for them and make a difference in their lives.” Krista has already obtained her Licensed Social Work certification. Her future goals include completing the requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Diana completed her bachelor’s degree in sociology at Kean University. Diana completed her MSW degree in the RUSSW part-time program while working full-time as a Case Manager at Catholic Charities’ Ozanam Family Shelter. Diana’s internship was completed in the Catholic Charities’ Family Preservation Services Program in Middlesex County. Working full-time and attending school during a pandemic certainly presented a challenge, but Diana stated, “I made it through with the help, encouragement, and support of my family and friends. It was not easy, but worth it!” This spirit of resilience and perseverance has resonated in Diana’s work as a LifeSet Specialist, a position she has held since March 2021. Diana has already passed her Licensed Social Work exam. Her future goals include obtaining her LCSW and eventually returning to school to further her education in a helping profession. The LifeSet Program focuses on supporting today’s young adults and stems from a partnership with the Department of Children and Families and Youth Villages. This evidence-based program aims to help youth, ages 17 to 22, achieve personal and social growth and foster lifelong relationships with trusted adults.
