While there, we were able to raise awareness of and provide information on the importance of Early Childhood Education. Our primary objective was to inform the community of the Free Preschool program offered by New Brunswick Public Schools and the two Catholic Charities locations that work to serve the needs of New Brunswick’s preschool population. Additionally, we provided much needed information on the other resources available through Catholic Charities such as: Unity Square, Immigration, and other Family Services.
This community event was held at 112 Peterson St. New Brunswick and it was hosted by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Community Health Promotion Program as part of the National Child Abuse Prevention Month. There were: Crafts, Face painting, Caricature Drawings, Raffles, Free Books, Book Readings and other activities for the kids, including learning about CPR and EKG from RNs. A DJ was there and there were sandwiches, chips, water and juice for everyone. Some of the vendors who are participated were: State Theatre New Jersey, New Brunswick Bike Exchange, Sacred Heart Folkloric Dance Group, The Teen Outreach Program, Catholic Charities Mobile Family Success Center of Middlesex County, New Brunswick Public Library, PRAB, New Brunswick Fire Department, Live Well New Brunswick, NJ Health Department, WellCare of NJ, City of New Brunswick Recycling Program. This event was a great success with over 200 participants.
