“This is a very exciting time for us here at the Independent Living Program”, said Program Supervisor, Katie Drake. “We provide the tools for young people to live independently in the community and the support they need to be successful; it is heartwarming to see their hopes and dreams realized.”
The Independent Living Program is designed for youth who are approaching adulthood yet are unable to return to their families. While in a supervised apartment like setting, youth receive case management services and opportunities for real life experiences in a supportive environment. Program participants are required to maintain employment. All program components prepare these young people to live independently in the community.
“We are extremely proud of our Independent Living Program, and eager to share our success stories,” said Catholic Charities Executive Director, Marianne Majewski. “The young people who participate in the program are an example of the resiliency of the human spirit. They continue to work hard and have made an investment in their future to ensure their own success.”
Catholic Charities serves all those in need, and is grateful to the community for its ongoing support.
