Family Preservation Services

PLEASE NOTE: This service requires a referral from  the Divison of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).

program summary:

Intensive, in-home, short-term crisis intervention and family education program to prevent out-of-home placement of children. Services are provided at times convenient to families, including evenings and weekends. Counselors are on call 24 hours a day. There are no fees for this service.

Eligibility Criteria:

DCP&P clients, screened by DCP&P representative to meet criteria: out of home placement of children likely within 3-5 days if no intervention; all other services, therapies exhausted, unavailable or inappropriate; at least one primary caregiver is willing to work with FPS; no substance abuse interference; homelessness is not threatening placement; child must be returned home within 30 days if out of the home.
